Make Up For Ever High Definition Foundation

You might not be instantly impressed with this foundation upon your first application. You will question the hype and for the most part you are right in doing so. But there is some truth to the "rave" over this foundation.

You will notice that this foundation provides light coverage suitable for those who fortunately have little to no scars and blemishes, but those who really do need the coverage might find themselves pumping, pumping, and pumping plenty of foundation onto your applicator. Yes! This foundation is buildable and easy to blend so if you are going to use more product then blending will not be an issue. With that being said, it is very unlikely to cake this foundation on.

After application you are not going to see anything unique in this foundation in comparison to others, but give it a couple of minutes and let the product sink and absorb into your skin. After some time the natural warmth and oils from your face with seamlessly mesh and create a natural looking glow and like it says on the packaging it will "Moisturize the upper layers of the skin."

How do you apply this foundation? Really... that is up to you and it depends on your skin type.

Application 1: If you only need light coverage I recommend you use a stippling brush like the MAC 187 because this type of brush picks up less product and the spacing of the bristles reduces the concentration of the foundation in one area. Using a stippling brush also saves more product which in return saves you some cash. *Tip: Stipple and blend...do not swipe across the face it will leave streak marks.

Application 2: If you need light to medium coverage I recommend using a wedge sponge. This might not be the most economical option as the sponge absorbs a lot of the product, but if you are willing to look past that, this technique gives you the most control and flexibility on your coverage and is less streaky. *Tip: Dampen the sponge with a fixing spray like the MAC's Fix + or you can even use water and pump the foundation on (you can skip this step if you feel that you need more coverage)

Application 3: If you need heavier coverage I suggest using a brush like MAC 190 foundation brush. The dense and stiff bristles allows you to pick up more product so you are able to have more product concentration. *Tip: Make sure to blend the foundation for a flawless look especially since foundation brushes of this type are known to leave streak marks.

So lets get to the conclusion...

My opinion on this product is that it is a good foundation for an everyday face. I do not see much of the HD affect and so it fails to deliver in that sense, but do we really know what an HD face should look like? We also have to consider how pricey this product is...$40 dollars  for an everday foundation is not a good deal. But if you are like me and have not found a drug store foundation that works for for you then you might just like this product. My search for a good drug store foundation will continue but until then I will keep on purchasing this foundation.

Pros:
  • Easy to blend
  • Does not feel heavy
  • Delivers a Dewey look
  • Moisturizing
  • Has a pump
  • Wide color selection
Cons:
  • Pricey
  • Might not be enough coverage for some
  • Product runs out quickly
  • The packaging makes it hard to tell how much product is left
  • Results are not instant
